Top Dog? Of Course!

CBS was proud to sponsor the University of North Texas K-9 Squad in the recent Region 25 "Top Dog" Competition.

Taking first place was Russ Weir and K-9 Gino, second place Ricky Olivarez and K-9 Quint and Third place Cpl. Chris Turner and K-9 Rex (our neighborhood favorite).

The United States Police Canine Association certifies K-9 units from all over North Texas each year in pursuit of maintaining the most well trained police dogs. The dogs that perform best in each category win “Top Dog.”   The UNT K-9 unit currently employs three canines that are full-bred Belgian Malinois.  The UNT police force sees to it that its canines are also certified by the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association and the National Police Canine Association.  These animals are also shared with other law enforcement agencies as needed. CBS and UNT are making the world safer every day!

Remanufacturing Industries Council Executive Committee Meeting

Executive Commitee of RIC
at private dinner at Vesta's
The members of the Executive Committee of the Remanufacturing Industries Council (RIC) convened last week in Springfield Missouri for a face to face board meeting.

Our local host Jack Stack of Springfield Remanufacturing Corporation (SRC) not only kept the meeting in order in his role as Chairman, but also provided some excellent local hospitality.  And while we did not get a chance to check out the #1 tourist destination in Springfield (which is the original location of the Bass Pro Shops) perhaps my favorite part of the trip were the factory tours of SRC Automotive & Electric as well as a tour of John Deere's remanufacturing facility.

It is really neat to see other different industry segments involved in many of the same processes that our electrical/circuit breaker business is involved in.  From finding quality personal, to waste management all remanufacturers have similar strengths and weaknesses.  The purpose of the RIC is to pool our resources and speak as a uniform voice for all the industries.  Lots of more good stuff on the horizon.

Bill Schofield serves on the Executive Board of RIC on behalf of Circuit Breaker Sales, Group CBS and PEARL (the Professional Electrical Apparatus Recyclers League).

GE = Generous Electric (he says with a smile)

OK I know we have all heard this joke a bunch of times that GE stands for Generous Electric and it is usually said with a snicker.  But really it kind of does.  GE IS GENEROUS ELECTRIC.  But in a good way.

GE is generous to not only themselves but also all the folks who consume their durable goods.  We can repair GE circuit breakers and related apparatus because it was well designed and built originally.  More modern goods many times are not able to be repaired or serviced and so have a much shorter lifespan.

Look at these legacy replacement breakers which recently arrived (the original air breakers are shown in the last photo).  These GE PVVL Vacuum Roll in Replacement Breakers are meant to replace the GE Magneblast line.

From CBS - New Arrivals Daily!

If you see something you need please call.  We answer the telephone 24/7 and even usually respond to email right away (although for an emergency please call us direct and we will respond).

Another Mystery Part!

OK first we want to thank all the folks that participated in the last mystery part contest.  In case you forgot what the previous part was CLICK HERE.  The "answer" we were looking for was:
"FP undervoltage device for FP-25 or FP-50 style circuit breakers" and the bonus question was "115vAC control" ( you could see that in the photo).

Winners included;  Matt Hart, Matt Brierley, Salvatore Moscato, Ken Prince, Gus Mininberg, Guido Tan and Mike Sposato (who wins $200 because he also correctly identified that it came off his breaker we were repairing.. good eye).  Incorrect answers were quite creative and several are not suitable for reprint here (although our staff appreciated the humor).  Even the "losers" were sent T-Shirts just for playing.  But that was then and this is now so TIME FOR A NEW MYSTERY PART!
Again, winners receive a coveted "Bad Trip T-Shirt" and $100 gift card.  Email us the following info on this part, manufacturer, type of accessory (shunt trip, aux switch, etc) and the type of circuit breaker it goes on (e.g, air, molded, insulated, oil or vacuum).  First 10 folks win prize (there were not 10 winners last contest).

NEW MYSTERY PART (below)

Weasel Words: Because this blog crosses state and international borders, my lawyers say we need some "disclosures" so here goes... this contest is open to all friends and customers of Astro Controls, CBS Arcsafe, CBS Nuclear, Circuit Breaker Sales, Circuit Breaker Sales & Service, Circuit Breaker Sales & Repair, iE2, Solid State Exchange & Repair, RVI, TheCircuitBreakerStore.com, Western Electric and/or any other affiliate of Group CBS. But not employees or their immediate family members. All winners names will be posted here and each winner is responsible for their own taxes. The decision of the Judges is usually final.
